Holt Howard Pixiware - Jam 'n Jelly Jar plus Lid Spoon - 1958

Two brother John and Robert Howard met Grant Holt at Amherst College.  Their parents lent them $9,000 in 1949 to start a business in their apartment on 35th Street in New York City.  In 1958 they produced whimsical expressions condiment series of three:  mustard, ketchup and Jam 'n Jelly for $4.95 for the set.  It was so wildly successful that more than 60 varieties were produced from 1958 to 1962.  Other companies then began it immitate this original pixiware product.

This rare Jam 'n Jelly jar is 5.5 inches tall and 4 inches at the widest part of his body. The top is also the scoop spoon.  There are no chips.  The bottom curve of the first "J" has been lost.  The bottom is stamped with "1958 copyright Holt Howard."
